Rebel Roots Theatre Company is a Leeds-based company dedicated to making theatre accessible for working-class communities. We champion underrepresented talent, create opportunities for graduates, and bring bold performances to local pubs and venues.

Our mission is simple: real stories, real people, creating theatre that works for all.

We have 4 goals as a company

A brand new networking event dedicated to bringing together students from the multitude of performing arts institutions that Leeds has to offer, whether that be Leeds Conservatoire, Leeds Beckett, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, The Mill School of Performance, Leeds Arts University, Notre Dame Sixth Form College, Leeds City College and much more.

Rebel Roots Youth Academy Presents

Lost Identity

Lost Identity is a Rebel Roots Youth Academy production that follows Michael, a young man wrestling with the weight of his own mind. Isolated and overwhelmed, he’s forced to confront the grief he’s spent years trying to bury.

As memories blur and inner voices grow louder, Michael finds himself battling not only sorrow, but shame, self-doubt and the painful possibility that he may have played a part in the loss he’s grieving.

Untitled Spiking Project

The play follows the story of David, and the relationship with his daughter Layla as he discovers second-hand the challenges of growing up as a Woman in the modern day, which comes to a head when Layla leaves for uni and is spiked whilst out clubbing.
